À Goma, dans l’Est de la République démocratique du Congo, l’Association Sans But Lucratif Equigreen for Peace a lancé une initiative de formation des jeunes à la fabrication de sacs écologiques à partir de déchets recyclés.
Organisé le samedi 9 mai 2026 à l’Université Libre des Pays des Grands Lacs (ULPGL), cet atelier de recyclage a réuni une dizaine de jeunes, filles et garçons confondus. L’objectif était de promouvoir la protection de l’environnement, l’entrepreneuriat et l’autonomisation des jeunes.
« Nous avons réuni quelques jeunes pour cette activité pilote. Cet atelier de recyclage organisé ici à l’ULPGL vise à combiner l’entrepreneuriat, la protection de l’environnement ainsi que la promotion de l’autonomisation des jeunes », a expliqué Carine Lobela Babikire, coordonnatrice nationale d’Equigreen for Peace.
Au cours de la formation, les participants ont appris à fabriquer des sacs à partir de matériaux recyclés, notamment des bouchons de bouteilles plastiques, des capsules de boissons ainsi que d’autres déchets non biodégradables couramment utilisés dans la ville de Goma.
Selon Carine Lobela, cette initiative démontre qu’il est possible de valoriser les déchets plastiques en les transformant en source de revenus pour les jeunes.
«Notre cible principale est constituée des jeunes diplômés, finalistes et étudiants des universités de Goma. Nous voulons leur montrer qu’ils ont la capacité d’entreprendre dans un environnement sensible comme celui de la ville de Goma », a-t-elle ajouté.
Pour assurer cette formation, Equigreen for Peace a collaboré avec des acteurs de l’économie verte évoluant à Goma, notamment des spécialistes de la fabrication de sacs à base de matériaux recyclés.
Parmi eux figure Léonie Malkia, Directrice Générale de l’entreprise BIYAP et formatrice du jour. Elle explique que cette activité répond à un double objectif : générer des revenus et réduire la pollution plastique dans la ville.
« Les sachets plastiques sont collectés dans différents endroits de la ville. Après leur récolte, nous les lavons puis les réutilisons dans la fabrication des sacs », a-t-elle indiqué, soulignant également que la réutilisation des déchets plastiques contribue à la protection des sols.
Les participants ont salué cette initiative, estimant qu’elle peut contribuer à l’amélioration de l’environnement tout en favorisant l’autonomisation économique des jeunes.
« Une bonne gestion des déchets non biodégradables peut contribuer non seulement à l’économie, mais aussi à l’autonomisation des femmes et des hommes », a déclaré Rutiba Mabagirwa Saidi, l’un des participants.
À travers cette activité, Equigreen for Peace réaffirme son engagement dans la protection de l’environnement, la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique et l’autonomisation des jeunes en RDC à partir des initiatives entrepreneuriales.
Grâce à cette formation, les bénéficiaires ont acquis des compétences leur permettant de fabriquer des sacs vendus entre 5 et 25 dollars américains, à partir de matériaux recyclés collectés localement, contribuant ainsi à l’assainissement de la ville de Goma.
