C’était au cours d’une conférence de presse organisée en marge de la journée mondiale des réfugiés commémorée, le 20 juin de chaque année laquelle, a été placée pour l’année 2024, sous le thème : »Un monde qui accueille les personnes forcées de fuir ».
Après une série d’activités organisée par le bureau du HCR Goma, c’est-à-dire, du match de football et Nzango du mercredi, 19 juin entre réfugiés Urbains (Burundais) et personnes déplacées de guerre au stade de l’unité de Goma qui s’était soldé à 3-2 en faveur du premier groupe, jusqu’au forum sur l’accès à l’emploi des réfugiés du 20 juin, jour de la célébration. Sous le haut patronage du gouverneur militaire de province du Nord-Kivu en collaboration avec la FEC et les autres entreprises locales.

Cette conférence était une occasion pour faire la globalisation sur les réfugiés et les personnes déplacées internes qui sont sous le mandat du HCR. Organisée à Goma, à l’hôtel Cap-Kivu par le bureau de l’agence des Nations-Unies pour les réfugiés en collaboration avec tous ses partenaires, gouvernemental et social, notamment, la CNR, AIDES et le comité des réfugiés.

Chiffres retenus par le HCR en 2024,
« actuellement au niveau de la RDC, nous comptons plus de cent vingt mille réfugiés et demandeurs d’asile à travers le pays », affirme la cheffe de la sous-délégation.
À elle d’ajouter que, plus de 163 mille de ce 520 mille réfugiés et demandeurs d’asile enregistrés par la République Démocratique du Congo se trouve dans la province du Nord-Kivu.
