À Beni, dans la province du Nord-Kivu, un centre de déradicalisation destiné aux ex-otages des Forces démocratiques alliées (ADF) a été mis en place afin de renforcer la confiance entre les anciens captifs et les familles d’accueil. Érigé à Kuka, ce centre répond à l’une des recommandations formulées lors du forum provincial sur la paix organisé en février 2026.
Selon la société civile locale, cette infrastructure s’inscrit dans le processus de recherche d’une paix durable dans cette région marquée par des tensions communautaires et sécuritaires.
« Ce centre va faciliter les échanges entre les autorités, les services de sécurité ainsi que les ex-otages ou les personnes rendues à travers l’initiative de défection, afin de contribuer au rétablissement de la sécurité. C’est véritablement une réponse à un besoin ressenti par la communauté », souligne Pépin Kavotha.
Initiateur du projet au sein de l’organisation Ubuntu Panafrica, Fidèle Baliamu précise que ce centre servira également d’espace d’échanges entre différents acteurs engagés dans la promotion de la paix et de la cohésion sociale.
« Nous insistons sur la déradicalisation, mais ce centre servira aussi d’espace pour les jeunes afin de discuter des problèmes de sécurité et de développer l’esprit critique. Bref, c’est un centre de réflexion, de recherche et, pourquoi pas, d’éveil des consciences », explique-t-il.
Il ajoute que le centre restera ouvert aux discussions avec la jeunesse sur les questions sécuritaires, notamment celles liées au partenariat civilo-militaire.
Autour du centre, construit dans le quartier Masiani, en commune de Mulekera, des fontaines ont également été aménagées afin d’approvisionner la population locale en eau potable. Cette initiative poursuit ainsi un double objectif : favoriser la réinsertion communautaire des ex-otages des ADF et réduire les tensions liées au manque d’eau potable dans cette partie du Nord-Kivu.
