Dans l’Ituri, province située au nord-est de la République démocratique du Congo (RDC), conflits et violences armés maintiennent les populations civiles dans un cycle meurtrier où des milliers de personnes souffrent dans le silence, alerte le Comité International de la Croix-Rouge.
Dans son communiqué publié ce jeudi, 6 Novembre 2025, le CICR note que l’Ituri connaît depuis plusieurs années, des cycles de violences marqués par des opérations militaires, des affrontements entre groupes armés, et de plus en plus d’incursions, d’attaques et d’autres incidents violents ciblant directement les populations civiles.
(Pourtant), le droit international humanitaire (DIH) interdit les attaques prenant pour cible les populations et les biens civils, rappelle l’organisation.
Le CICR souligne par ailleurs que, les conséquences pour la population sont immenses, se traduisant par des pertes en vies humaines, des blessures, des déplacements massifs, des violences sexuelles, des mauvais traitements, le recrutement d’enfants et la perte de leurs maisons et autres moyens de subsistance. Les civils paient le prix fort et subissent le plus lourd tribut de cette violence et du manque du respect du DIH et des principes humanitaires.
Pour réduire leur vulnérabilité, le Comité international de la Croix-Rouge (CICR) a distribué des vivres à près de 12 000 personnes de retour chez elles, après avoir fui des attaques armées et tout abandonné pour se mettre à l’abri, indique le même communiqué.
Dans la chefferie de Mambisa, en territoire de Djugu, chaque famille a reçu des biens indispensables au quotidien tels que des ustensiles de cuisine, du savon ou encore des couvertures, ainsi que des vivres pour combler les besoins d’un mois. Revenues après avoir fui une série d’attaques armées et d’incidents violents au mois d’août, la plupart ont trouvé leurs maisons incendiées et leurs biens pillés, ajoute l’organisation Humanitaire.
Malgré la croissance du nombre de blessés, le Comité International de la Croix-Rouge souligne cependant que l’accès aux soins est réduit dans la région.
D’après le document rendu public, le CICR apporte une aide aux personnes fuyant les violences ainsi que celles qui s’efforcent de rentrer chez elles. Cette aide vise à répondre à leurs besoins immédiats mais leur préoccupation principale reste la sécurité.
