Lutte contre les violences sexuelles: le CICR encourage les journalistes à travailler pour la réduction des cas au Nord-Kivu

Face à la recrudescence des conflits armés au Nord-Kivu, à l’est de la République Démocratique du Congo, le comité international de la Croix-Rouge a, en prélude de la célébration de 16 jours d’actions contre les violences sexuelles, réuni vingt et trois journalistes de Goma en atelier Médias du 15 au 16 octobre 2024. 

Sous le thème :« Violences sexuelles et la réalisation de reportages par les Médias sur les violences sexuelles dans le respect des principes », l’objectif était de souligner le rôle de la Presse dans la lutte contre ce fléau dans la région du Nord-Kivu en proie aux conflits armés.

« En tant que leaders d’opinion, la presse vous avez un rôle à jouer dans,notamment, la lutte contre les violences sexuelles, la réduction de la stigmatisation contre les victimes des violences sexuelles dans notre région du Nord-Kivu « , a indiqué Isaac, responsable du programme de la lutte contre les violences sexuelles en RDC pour le CICR.

Tout en remerciant le comité international de la Croix-Rouge, madame Rosalie ZAWADI a eu à souligner, le contexte dans lequel travaillent les journalistes de la province.

« Les journalistes du Nord-Kivu travaillent dans le contexte difficile et souvent, ils ont du mal à être entendus. Et donc, j’invite les journalistes à produire un travail de qualité…je nous appelle en plus de responsabilités non seulement pour le prix, mais à travailler sur ces questions de violences qui concernent nos communautés », a dit, la Présidente de l’Union Nationale de la Presse du Congo, section du Nord-Kivu. 

Cette session qui portait sur l’approche CICR de la problématique des violences sexuelles et le traitement de reportages sur les survivants a été clôturée par le lancement du Concours « Meilleurs prix pour la rédaction« . Le concours concerne, entre autres 40 journalistes de Goma et Beni ayant pris part aux ateliers du comité international de la Croix-Rouge. Trois journalistes seront primes dans les trois catégories à savoir, Presse écrite, radio et télévision.
